Pattern Translation

As a certified translator who has designed over 100 knitting patterns myself, I offer expert translation of knitting patterns and related content from Spanish into English and vice versa. You can trust me to handle it all with expertise and care—I never use machine translation or AI!

TRanslation

Your pattern translation will include:

• translation of all descriptive and instructional text into the target language

• translation of chart keys and schematics as plain text so you can input the target language in your charting/drawing software

• swapping abbreviations for the commonly used abbreviations in the target language, or a clear written description of a stitch when no abbreviation in the target language exists

• translation assistance for any pattern support inquiries and replies

Fees

Rates begin at USD $35/hour for pattern translation, with a 1 hour minimum and calculated in 15 minute increments.

An accessory pattern takes an average of 2 hours to translate, a garment pattern 3.5 hours.

Course materials, tutorial captions, and other fiber arts related content you may be interested in having translated are charged at my standard per-word fee (from USD $0.12) or an hourly rate, depending on which is more practical.
