Resolutions 2015
Tomorrow's the big day--a new year! While I generally detest the month of January, I do like the promise a new year holds. I enjoy challenging myself to accomplish new things--which can of course be done any time of year, but there's just something about the new year magic that makes it all seem possible.
So, what crazy knitting goals have I come up with for 2015?
First, I'd like to knit from stash. So, to that end:
1. NO yarn buying for the first 6 months. Gaaaaaaah! I am part of 2 yarn clubs, plus I often receive yarn support for designs, so fresh yarn will be coming in occasionally, but it will still be a challenge. (1 day suspension for Maryland Sheep and Wool will be in effect. Obviously.)
2. Yarn in, yarn out for the last 6 months--if I want to buy yarn, I have to get rid of an equal amount FIRST. Tricky. (1 day suspension for Rhinebeck. Obviously.)
And that brings us to another goal: attend industry events. As I work to expand the design business aspect of my knitting life, it is becoming more important to participate in knitting-related events (read: networking). With 2 little ones, that's a challenge. Maryland Sheep and Wool is easy enough, but I need to do more. So I plan to attend Rhinebeck, somehow, and at least one more event--a trade show, retreat, festival, etc.
The Baltimore Collection: it's a go! I've designed 5 Baltimore-inspired pieces for a special collection, which I expect to release in September 2015, and am working with several Maryland-based indie dyers to find just the right yarns for these projects. I can't wait to get started.
And lastly, my craziest idea yet: start teaching! I'd like to develop a few knitting-related classes and begin offering them at local(ish) yarn shops. This idea still needs a lot of work, but I'm pretty excited about it.
Your turn: what are your resolutions, goals or challenges for 2015?
