Where I Knit: Indie Untangled Blog Hop

Knitting is one of those few great hobbies that's portable. That means we can hit the road with our knitting and bring it to some exciting, beautiful, and/or downright bizarre places. 

These days my favorite place to knit is simply in the comfort of my own home. The couch, wine, some sleeping babies and maybe a fire in the fireplace and I'm happy.

But pre-kids, my knitting and I went on a lot of adventures. I distinctly remember handwinding a ball of sock yarn in my hotel room in Lima, Peru. I took a Jaywalker sock with me to Belize where it was stolen, along with the rest of my bag. I knit to pass the hours on flights to Costa Rica, Guyana, Mexico and Chile. Have knitting, will travel.

I spent many a lunch hour with my knitting in Lafatette Square, right in front of the White House, or down by the monument, and hundreds of commutes home on the Metro with my knitting in my lap. 

I've knit in the doctor's office, the maternity ward and the NICU. Oriole Park at Camden Yards. On the shores of Deep Creek Lake. The beaches of Duck, North Carolina. Planes, trains and automobiles. Mountain cabins, beach houses, hotel rooms, conference rooms, waiting rooms. My knitting has always been a trusty companion. 

Drawing inspiration from this concept, Indie Untangled has dreamed up a fantastic-looking yarn club for 2016. They've paired up talented indie dyers and designers to bring you quarterly kits inspired by "Where We Knit." From the comfort of their own homes to the beach to the brewery, each quarterly installment promises to be unique, and with the contributors they have lined up, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I usually sign up for one yarn club each year, and this one is looking mighty tempting!
