2015 Year in Review

Well, here we are: the very last day of 2015.

How did this even happen?

I'm pretty sure I just got back from our August beach trip, and am ready to start my fall knitting projects . . .

How was 2015 for you? Are you ready to say goodbye, or can't quite believe it's over?

2015 flew by, but overall it was a pretty good year for me.

My baby isn't such a baby anymore, which is sad in some ways, but happy in others--he's becoming more indepedent, and more fun. He's finally walking and more-or-less eating table food. He certainly liked those sugar cookies. He still has impossibly large cheeks.

This photo is terribly unflattering, but I can't get over how sweet JJ looks!

My JJ is almost 3, which seems utterly impossible. He was evaluated by his speech therapist a few months ago, and while he's still a little behind his peers, he no longer qualifies as speech delayed! Just today, after being told he couldn't have a chocolate, he asked for one for his stuffed Rudolph toy. He offered it to Rudolph, made the appropriate eating noises, then announced, "And now, for JJ!" and popped the chocolate in his own mouth. He's too clever for his own good.

Even though Cardigan Comeback was pretty much a bust, I did finish 17 projects in 2015--and I also did really well with my yarn diet for the first half of the year, which is something.

Design-wise, I published 8 new patterns this year. Not as many as I hoped, but nothing to sneeze at. I'm working away at a number of new patterns for 2016, for both grownups and little people, and promise lots of good things in store for the new year!

That said, I recently came to the decision that 2016 has to be the make-it-or-break-it year for my designs. I've been playing around with pattern design since 2011. Originally it was just for fun, and it gradually evolved into a more serious hobby/small business; now it's reached the point where the time and effort I'm devoting to it means it needs to help support me and my family. And if that's not possible, then I need to put that time and energy into something that can.

So, we'll see where 2016 leads. Either way, it's going to be an adventure!
