Outerloop Sweater Club: Susquehanna

Today I'm thrilled to be able to share my design for Neighborhood Fiber Co.'s Outerloop Sweater Club: Susquehanna.

Susquehanna is a top-down raglan worked in NFC's soft and stunning Capital Luxury Sport (this gorgeous purple colorway is Truxton Circle, named after a DC neighborhood). It features subtle slipped stitch cables along the front bands and down the spine . . .

which then travel at the hip, expanding to frame triangle motifs filled with textured mistake rib. The sleeves are also worked in mistake rib, which I think really rounds out the unique look:

I'm so excited to have this design out in the wild, because it's been in the works for quite some time. I had originally imagined this sweater as a pullover, and then one day had a brain wave that it would work even better as a cardigan.

When Karida from NFC contacted me earlier this year about doing a design for the club, I sent her a few cardigan sketches that I had in my book, but I just knew this design would be the winner!

I received the yarn over the summer and got to work right away. Knitting was the easy part--charting the triangles and incorporating the mistake rib into the pattern for all the different sizes was quite challenging! (Many thanks to Ann Weaver for outstanding tech editing in the face of my tendency to over-complicate things--she's made the pattern much cleaner!)

I delivered the sample on the first Saturday in September--I took the opportunity to drive up to Baltimore so I could get a peek at NFC's studio, which is awesome and apparently in an old fire station! It was absolutely pouring rain that day, but I imagine it gets so much light on nice days. (One of these days I'm going to have time to take one of their dyeing workshops!)

And now the pattern is in the hands of the Outerloop club members! NFC's Instagram feed has been filled with gorgeous photos of the yarn they've packed up and shipped out for the club, and I absolutely cannot wait to see the sweaters the club members knit!

This pattern is currently exclusive to the Outerloop Sweater Club, but you can still show it some love on Ravelry here
