Pattern Debut: Boardwalk Tee

If you're ready to ditch the wool (gasp!) until the weather cools down, I've got the perfect project for you: introducing the Boardwalk Tee, debuting in I Like Knitting's August issue!

Knit in Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Fine, a soft fingering weight cotton, this basic tee keeps you on your toes with a unique construction, and simple garter and stockinette give you ample opportunity to play with color. I chose large blocks of color for the sample, but the possibilities are endless!

Matching front and back pieces are worked flat and seamed at the shoulders. Then side panels are picked up along the right and left edges, with a few short rows added to create cap sleeves. Just sew up the sides and finish it all off with a little garter trim--voila, a cool comfy tee to get you through the summer.

I Like Knitting subscribers likely already have their hands on the August issue--or will soon! It includes 26 fun summery patterns and you can see them all here. If you're not a subscriber, you can take care of that right away here, so you can get started on your own Boardwalk Tee.

Stay tuned for a quick photo tutorial on an essential technique for this project: horizontal mattress stitch!
