The pattern I debuted last Wednesday, Vaughan Vest, is part of Knit Picks' new fall collection, Twist and Tweed. I'm honored to be included in such a spectacular collection of cozy fall sweaters and accessories.

I have, of course, found several pieces in the collection that I hope to (someday) make time to knit myself, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites.

I love this sweatshirt-style sweater, Harley, by Jenny Williams. The keynote of this piece, the collar, is knit flat and seamed. Then stitches for the body are picked up from the bottom edge and the remainder of the sweater is knit downward seamlessly. The finished sweater looks so wearable, but much more sophisticated than your favorite college sweatshirt--a real wardrobe staple.

Harris is one of those designs only Teresa Gregorio, AKA Canary Knits, could make work--who else could get you to want a cape? She totally pulls it off, though, there's nothing boring or dowdy about this showstopper. Knit in the round from the bottom up, with sleeves worked from provisional cast-ons, this piece has lots of fun elements--cables, textured stitches, pleats--that all work together to create something unique for your fall or winter wardrobe.

The Herne Cardigan, by Jaclyn Zifos, is a major upgrade to the comfy grandpa sweater. It's got the classic shawl collar and roomy pockets, but a feminine shape, intricate cables and texture galore. Worked in worsted weight, it's sure to be warm as well as fashionable--I'm almost ready to throw all my current WIPs in the trash and cast this on immediately.

Cassie Castillo's Liana Cardigan is a seamless, saddle-shoulder cardigan that certainly deserves space in your sweater drawer. To be honest, I think the dark, tweedy yarn chosen for the sample obscures some of the noteworthy design elements in this piece. Chunky cables trim the front bands and collar, as well as the slant pockets--which you can barely see! I love the loop button closures on this one too.
