Design Spotlight: Vaughan Vest

Vaughan Vest Knitting Pattern

I'm so excited to finally be showing off my version of the Vaughan Vest, which was published last year as part of Knit Picks Twist and Tweed Collection.

The sample for the collection was knit in a rich, tweedy brown and modeled with a bit of positive ease--it looked quite lovely! But my original vision for this vest was a close-fitting layering piece with pops of color at the trim.

For my version I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed in Oyster Heather, a great tweedy neutral, with Autumn Heather and Persimmon Heather for the contrast colors. It's so warm and rustic, It just screams "fall"--which is obviously why I finally finished it in January. ;)

I knit the size 36 and am modeling it here with 0 ease. The color around the armholes and neckline really helps it stand out against a neutral shirt. It looks great with jeans, but I think you could also pair it with a nice buttondown and a pencil skirt for the office. (Of course, I haven't worked in an office since 2013, so YMMV!)

The yardage for the contrast colors is really minimal, so this would be a great way to use up leftover yarn while adding some pop to the project. I'm really please with how it turned out, and can't wait to wear it--in September!
