Put away those lacy spring shawls--cold weather is coming (right??) and I've got the perfect cozy fall wrap for you.

Hechicera ("enchantress") is an asymmetrical triangle shawl worked in two shades of Magpie Fibers Swanky DK. Simple garter and stockinette combine with a clever slipped stitch pattern to create a colorful layer for chilly weather.

Fair warning: there are a LOT of ends to weave in--but I think the end result is worth it! The stockinette and garter give you lots of simple knitting when you need something mindless, while the slipped stitch pattern, slightly more challenging, is easy to memorize, making this a great project for on-the-go knitting.

It's also a great opportunity to play with color--my sample uses Out of the Blue, a tonal Caribbean blue, for the main color, and FizzGig, a variegated with similar shades of blue as well as white and green, for the contrast color. You could try combining a solid with a gradient or striping yarn too--and let me know if you do, I'd love to see it!

The most challenging part of this project isn't the knitting, but the blocking--to get the final shape shown here, I recommend using blocking wires. The slipped stitch isn't as stretchy as garter or stockinette, so your shawl will need a little encouragement to take the final shape; blocking wires make it easier to wrangle all 3 sides of the triangle.
